General FAQ
What age groups and levels do you cater for?
We offer tailored support for every stage of the learning journey. Our services begin with foundational literacy and numeracy for Grade R (Reception Year) learners, continue through all grades of primary school (Grades 1-7) and high school (Grades 8-12), and extend to tertiary education students. This includes assistance with university-level courses, exam preparation, and assignment support.
How are tutors matched to my child's or my specific needs?
Our matching process is detailed and personalized. For school-level students, we consider the subject, syllabus (CAPS, IEB, or Cambridge), the student’s current challenges, learning style, and personality. For tertiary students, we match based on the specific course, textbook, and required skill set (e.g., essay writing, calculus, statistics). We always aim to pair learners with a tutor who is both a subject matter expert and a motivational fit.
What is your approach to tutoring younger learners (Grade R - Grade 3)?
For our youngest learners, we focus on learning through play and building core competencies. Sessions are short, engaging, and activity-based, aiming to develop a strong foundation in phonics, basic number sense, and fine motor skills. We work closely with parents to set goals and ensure a positive, pressure-free introduction to formal learning.
Do you offer help with specific milestones like school readiness, finals (Matric), or university exams?
Absolutely. We provide targeted programs for key educational milestones:
School Readiness: Preparing Grade R learners for the transition to Grade 1.
Matric/Finals Preparation: Intensive revision, past paper practice, and exam technique workshops for Grade 12 (NSC/IEB) students.
Tertiary Exam & Assignment Support: Helping university and college students understand complex concepts, structure assignments, and prepare for tests.
How do you communicate progress to parents and older students?
We believe in transparent, ongoing communication. For school-going students, parents receive regular verbal or written feedback from the tutor and have access to a progress portal. For high school and tertiary students, we encourage a collaborative approach where the student, tutor, and (for minors) parents set goals together and review progress periodically. Our focus is on measurable improvement and confidence-building.
